Yup, I'm A Grup
My friend Stacey sent me a link to an article from New Yorker magazine which talks about Grups (a contraction of "Grown Ups"). Tell me if this sounds like anyone you (may or may not) know

It is a story about 40-year-old men and women who look, talk, act, and dress like people who are 22 years old. It’s not about a fad but about a phenomenon that looks to be permanent. It’s about the hedge-fund guy in Park Slope with the chunky square glasses, brown rock T-shirt, slight paunch, expensive jeans, Puma sneakers, and shoulder-slung messenger bag, with two kids squirming over his lap like itchy chimps at the Tea Lounge on Sunday morning.

I think I see someone like this, minus the "expensive" part of the jeans and children, every day I look in the mirror.

And Me Without My Camera
After last night's Thrashers game I headed out to meet up with the Atlanta Bloggers. It was nearly 10pm, but there was still a core of "cool kids", and a couple of non-blogging types, hanging out and drinking. Our corner of 97 Estoria was like a paparazzi convention and I forgot to bring either of the two cameras I own. Would You Give Up Your Cell Phone Number For $300?
This is my newest dilemma. With a handful of months left on my current Sprint contract I am currently thinking about jumping ship to Cingular. If I do I might also make the Blackberry plunge by getting this beauty, the 8700c.

If I switch through a Cingular store the phone will cost me $300+tax (with a two-year contract). However, if I switch through Amazon I can get the same phone for free (with a comparable contract), but I believe that I have to give up my current cell number.

I hate changing cell numbers. It's not like I have a bevy of contacts (oh the self-deprication, when will it stop?!) but it is still a royal pain in the ass to get the message out when my number changes.

From The Fingers Of Bob Mould
A few weeks ago I blogged about seeing Bob Mould twice. Yesterday I surfed over to Bob's Blog to read it. While there I saw (a subsequently stole) this section of his April 3rd entry about his recent tour.

Wednesday and Thursday, Atlanta. Eddie's Attic is a great music room, lots of history, an attentive crew, and two packed shows. Thursday night, my voice gave out, a combination of strain and allergies. I managed to get through the show, but it was a tough one. I was able to visit some long time friends while in Atlanta. I almost moved to Atlanta three times, so I'm very familiar with the town. Visited two usual stops: Outwrite Books and Ansley Mall. To get to the gym at the (predominantly gay) mall, you walk by Starbucks. Think that combination draws a crowd?

I find it amusing to other people's impressions of our city or neighborhoods.

Making A Case For Live Music
On Good Friday it's back to the Variety Playhouse to see Neko Case. I've yet to purchase her new cd so I probably won't know most of the songs she performs tonight, but that's okay since she is rather easy on the eyes, her voice is spectacular, and it's a night out with friends. What more could a Grup ask for? Well, one thing springs to mind immediately, but I gave that up for Lent.
