Go Big Or Go Home

Keep Your Eyes On The Prize
When you bet 'all or nothing' sometimes you get it all, and sometimes you get nothing. Last night we got handed the latter.

Last night's trivia outing took us back to Johnny's for the Trivia Factory's flava of trivia. Team Nemesis (aka Meet The Hashers) was in full force and playing up to, but no better than par. As we have come to expect, other teams despise us (playfully?) and relish in glory when their score is announced to be higher than ours. This was the case at the end of the first half (DAMN YOU Alicia Keys!) All was rectified in the second half and going into the final question we were back in first.

The final question....
Name the top five selling cars in 2001.
We hit four out of five (Accord, Camry, Taurus, Altima(?)) but failed to get the Ford Focus.

The Ford Focus? Have you ever known anyone who drives a Ford Focus?

Pizza Pizza -- And I Don't Mean Little Caesar's
Pizza in this town keeps getting worse. The pizza last night was again borderline pathetic.

**mounts soapbox**
Chuck your tomatoes at me now as I once again state that I am a New Yorker (Whitestone representin') at heart. I yearn for the days of my youth when I'd go to Angelo's Pizzeria (R.I.P.) for a slice and a White Rock cream (or black cherry) soda. Sure, I realize that things "in the day" always seem better than they really were, but I think that I am right on this one.
**dismounts soapbox**

Here are the pizza joints that I will venture to in Atlanta (in no particular order)
  • Fellini's
  • Mellow Mushroom
  • Grant Central (including East)
  • Johnny's
  • Savage Pizza (although I have not been there in many years)

Soon this list may be revised. It is not good enough to me to take slices of previously cooked cheese pizza, add desired toppings, and then reheat until the crust loses all moisture just prior to serving.

Can anyone help me out here? Do you have a suggestion for excellent (non-national-chain) pizza?

A Good Swift Kick To The Shins
Calendar speaks -- The Shins at the Variety Playhouse tonight. I really like The Shins music, although I have little idea what to expect from them in concert. I have also heard mix reviews on the opening band The Brunettes, so I guess that I'll have to show up and give them a listen.

Look for me at the Euclid Avenue Yacht Club prior to the show. I'll be the one sans-tattoos, piercings, and Harley.

They Are New, Some May Even Call Them Fresh
CD release day. I'll score today's offerings with a 'C'. Sure the new Nine Inch Nails cd drops today. (yawn) Don't jump my case, I was a NIN addict back when that was in play. I've seen Mr. Reznor and his pals in concert twice, once even at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta.

Today's pick goes to.... Amy Grant's "Rock Of Ages... Hymns & Faith". This has nothing to do with her music, in fact I most likely will never hear a single song off this album. I'm giving props on her connections to Georgia and Nashville, and the fact that I have always wondered what it would be like to get a hummer from a hot Christian icon. Hey, My Blog, My Dreams, okay?

Quick Aside....
Can anyone give me a critique of Pinback? I keep hearing one song, "Fortress", on Sirius which is okay but have not heard anything else from them.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal...
Current Mood - eh
Current Music - Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Eels -- "Trouble With Dreams"
Website Of The Day - Little 5 Points, Atlanta style. Them Alternative Types got themselves nifty web presence, although their business directory is seriously out of date. How non-conformist!

Cheers!
